Your Role:

As a member of Farrell Roofing’s operations management team, you are very important to the success of our branches and our company. The Service Superintendent is critical to ensuring the quality of the work that our company produces and that all of our employees stay safe. Additionally, the Service Superintendent works to help our projects come in on budget and on time. Finally, the Service Superintendent plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between the field and the office and representing our company to customers. As an employee of Farrell Roofing, you will be committed to our values of safety, quality, happy customer, and on budget.

​​Day to Day Responsibilities will include:​

  • Providing leadership to Service Foremen—fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline—resulting in efficient and professional roof system installation.

  • Providing consistently high-quality service and results.

  • Representing the company in a professional manner in all dealings with customers, personnel, and the public.

  • Supervising service foremen to lead safe and efficient roof system installations.

  • Overseeing field staff, assisting foremen with crew leadership.

  • Working with project managers on job schedule durations.

  • Visiting job sites multiple times per week. (depending on location of jobs)

  • Providing ongoing feedback to service foremen regarding job schedule estimate vs actual.

  • Discussing opportunities for professional development.

  • Conducting post project review with crew.

  • Ensuring Safety Plan is followed, and PPE and Fall Protection are being utilized.

  • Approving Time Sheet and Per Diem for crews with payroll.

  • Reviewing time submitted by service foremen; ensuring that hours designated as overtime are correct and that travel pay provisions are included.

  • Ensure production and quality goals are met.

  • Maintaining understanding of contract information for jobs.

  • Tracking labor hours and production against stated goals.

  • Scheduling materials, equipment, and deliveries.

  • Monitoring material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages. Ordering materials as needed.

  • Coordinating, supervising, and managing subcontractors when onsite.

  • Monitoring quality of installations.

  • Deliver excellent customer service.

  • Engaging with customers to answer questions and provide explanations.

  • Scheduling regular contact with customers to review progress.

  • Discussing any outstanding issues with customers and other parties.

  • Meeting with customers to verify satisfaction with work.

  • Manage and coordinate job details between the field and office.

  • Reviewing plans and sites, delegating crews and do pre-job planning, including work flow planning.

  • Ensuring crews have information and instructions necessary to complete jobs.

  • Submitting reports and paperwork and otherwise coordinate communication between office and job sites.

  • Utilizing FCS system to maintain communication with customers.

  • Delivering documentation to the office in a timely manner.

  • Ensuring project management team has information for any change orders or changes in scope.

  • Reviewing final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed.

  • Participating in manufacturer final inspection.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to comprehend drawings, specifications, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Roof system knowledge – Knowledge of various roof systems, materials, construction processes and theories; ability to design a roof system; desire to stay abreast of codes and other necessary information

  • Safety and security – Ability to identify, correct and report unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards.

  • Effective communication –Ability to convey information, concepts and concerns to people with differing communication styles

  • Technology – Ability to use phones, tablets and other technology tools; knowledge of and ability to use the following software applications:

  • Word processing software

  • Spreadsheet software

  • Microsoft Office programs

  • Working knowledge of FCS program.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years’ roofing production supervision experience.

  • English fluency.

  • Safety training: OSHA 30-hour card.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to use/learn business technology.

  • Proven ability to exhibit leadership and management skills necessary to manage workflow, staff and customer relationships.
