Operations Research / Business Analyst

Job Summary:

Avanza is seeking a highly skilled Operations Research / Business Analyst to act as a vital link between our business area clients and a cross-functional consulting team. This role is crucial for enhancing and automating processes through advanced methods, applications, and technologies. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between finance and IT workstreams, ensuring seamless integration and implementation of business solutions. Please note that applicants must be authorized to work in the US as US Citizens or permanent residents and successfully pass a background investigation, per our client security requirements. 

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary liaison between business clients and the consulting team, translating complex business needs into clear and actionable requirements.
• Map organizational structures, business processes, and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
• Formulate and apply advanced mathematical and operational research models to analyze and optimize business operations.
• Lead the development and documentation of detailed business requirements for IT system enhancements and new technology implementations.
• Facilitate collaborative sessions with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals, deliverables, and technologies.
• Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including test case development and execution, to ensure solutions meet business needs and functional requirements.
• Use business intelligence and data visualization tools to provide insightful analytics that support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Assist in implementing solutions by collaborating with various departments.
• Apply financial and budgetary knowledge to assist in financial analysis and reporting.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong ability to assess problems, gather data, and develop effective technical and business solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience in applying technology to analyze, manipulate, and report on data.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced familiarity with business intelligence platforms such.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery in operations research, process improvement, and/or tools development.
• Experience with Agile project methodologies and tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
• Familiarity with statistical software, SQL databases, and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
