Job Description
The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing all construction projects and ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, this is a hybrid role involves project management, managing the construction project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes. The Construction Director plays a crucial role in driving the success of construction projects and maintaining the company's reputation for excellence in the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Responsible for review and approval of all proposals and cost estimates and contracts to ensure profitability requirements are achieved.
  • Complete project negotiation and buyout.
  • Hold preconstruction meetings with all departments to insure all are on board with all aspects of the project from the outset.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to review project plans, specifications, and drawings, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Monitor and manage construction progress, identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may arise to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Review and enforce all contracts, plans, specifications, submittals, etc. to assure that the Company is compliant with the terms of our construction contracts.
  • Conduct weekly site visits, meetings and safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, construction standards, completion and accuracy.
  • Manage and coordinate the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and agreements as necessary.
  • Meet with Project Managers and Superintendents on a weekly basis to review Management Reports ensuring project management processes are being used, followed and are up to date to assure that projects are tracking to be profitable.
  • Complete monthly Cost to Complete meetings on all projects with accurate budget updates from all Project Managers.
  • Issue and track all change orders to assure approval prior to implementing the work.
  • Manage invoicing and AR on all projects.
  • Prepare and present weekly reports and schedule updates to senior management and Clients, highlighting project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with accounting, to ensure compliance with budgets, payables, etc..
Job Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and owners.
  • Experience with implementation and adherence to processes.
  • Ability to identify and correct inefficiencies.
  • Experience leading multiple teams towards successfully achieving goals.
  • Ability to influence decision making processes and team buy in on those decisions.
