Job Summary:  

Directs staff engaged in providing residential and recreation services for all students and ensures programs and standards meet all DOL, PRH, Center and corporate requirements. 

Duties:

• Provides direct supervision of social development director, recreation manager and secretary. 
• Approves shift assignments, directs tasks, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff. 
• Train, supervise, and evaluate staff and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions, and/or merit increases. 
• Informs staff of the medical needs of injured or sick students on Center and ensures directives and health orders for non-health personnel are followed. Authorizes the dispensing of medication after consultation with the Center physician. 
• Initiates strategies to continuously improve the culture and climate of the center to improve student satisfaction, reduce negative separations, and promote retention.  
• Provides overall supervision of the Recreation function.  Prepares, communicates, and administers diverse recreation components, including leisure-time learning and employment programs.   
• Briefs the oncoming shift supervisor(s) before departure.  This includes medical condition of students injured or sick, incidents, safety, and security. 
• Conducts staff training for residential and recreation staff to promote improvements in programs and student achievement.   
• Ensures that residential staff assists students in development long- and short-term personal and independent living goals and documents same on the students’ PCDP.  Monitors progress through effective and timely ESPs.  
• Complies with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. 
• Participates in PRH mandated staff training. 
• Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Strong management and leadership skills required.        
Experience:  Two years supervisory experience required and two years’ experience working with youth. 

Education: Post-secondary degree and two years’ experience working with youth.  Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Valid State Drivers’ License.
