Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mill Mechanic

Burkmann Nutrition is a reputable, family-owned manufacturer of top-quality animal feed and mineral products. Our facility is located at 901 W. Walnut Street in Danville, KY, and we are currently seeking a detail-oriented Industrial Maintenance Mill Mechanic to join our team on a full-time, first-shift basis.

Job Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Mill Mechanic will work with the Burkmann Maintenance Lead and other Mill Mechanics to ensure plant production equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently utilizing their skills to reduce unwanted downtime. We are seeking a diversified and detail-oriented candidate, with a strong work ethic and a track record of dependability. Candidates must be able to analyze and troubleshoot electrical, automation, mechanical, and operational problems on all mill and associated equipment.

Working under the direction of the Maintenance Lead, responsibilities include:

• Utilizing maintenance trades and components such as welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Performing electrical & mechanical maintenance using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
• Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems in an efficient manner.
• Troubleshooting equipment failure and adjust, repair, or replace the correct part using power or hand tools as appropriate.
• Observing operation of production equipment and note areas requiring repairs and modifications.
• Installation, repair and inspection of various industrial electrical machinery and systems.
• Performing minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacements or repair of leaks in drains and faucet unclogging).
• Performing typical building and facility maintenance.
• Special assignments: From time to time a maintenance mechanic will be asked to travel to other Burkmann facilities and perform maintenance activities. Meals, lodging and other typical travel expenses will be provided for travel extending outside of the normal workday.

Requirements:

• Experience with machine repair and maintenance in a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience performing maintenance trades such as welding, pipefitting, fabrication, rigging systems, gearbox and bearings, lubrication, pump and piping systems, or hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and address most pressing priority as directed by leadership.
• Minimum of one year of experience with industrial electrical knowledge and any mechanical maintenance trade
• High School diploma or GED
• Physically, must be able to:

A. Work in high places (up to 135’), climb ladders and stairs, work from ladders/scaffolds, also work in pits and silos (confined spaces).

B. Work in a dusty environment. Feed dust and spilled grain products are usually present during a repair situation.

C. Bend, kneel and walk frequently.

D. Lift up to 75lbs occasionally throughout an 8 hour shift. For heavier items use mechanized lifting devices.

What Will Put You Ahead:

• Knowledge of feed mill flow patterns, dry as well as liquid.
• Experience working with and repairing 120/277/480v.
• Familiarity with screw/drag conveyors and bucket elevators.
• Skill or experience reading and interpreting diagrams such as technical drawings or blueprints.
