General Description of Duties:

Crittenton is looking to add creative cooks with a passion for cooking and customer service to our team. The full time cook position offers the opportunity to utilize your culinary talents to enrich the lives of the women and children we serve. Working under the direction of our Nutrition Coordinator/Executive Chef, cooks prepare and serve daily meals and snacks from scratch, cater special celebrations for our residents and staff and have the opportunity to assist with many other interesting kitchen projects.

Line of Authority:

Cooks report directly to the Nutrition Coordinator/Executive Chef

Job Classification & Pay:

Full time, non-exempt

$17.00 per hour

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve food and beverages with a focus on quality taste and presentation, and in accordance with health and food safety regulations
• Cook a variety of foods from scratch using a grill, oven, steamer, and other commercial kitchen equipment
• Responsible for cleaning all designated areas of the kitchen and dining room, maintaining the highest sanitary standards
• Restock areas on serving line and maintain clean, orderly stockroom and refrigerators/freezers
• Provide exceptional customer service to all clients, staff and guests
• Receive and stock truck deliveries
• Assist with catering on and off-site events
• Assist with maintaining vegetable gardens
• Follow all kitchen procedures to ensure successful health inspections
• Research and implement new and creative ideas for healthy, budget-friendly meals and snacks
• Develop positive rapport with clients

Experience and Qualifications:

At least one year of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen.


• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekday shifts of 7AM-3PM or 10AM-6PM and rotating weekends 7AM-3PM
• Ability to stand for 8+ hours
• Great communication skills and a team-player
• Knowledge of quality food preparation and presentation
• Experience or coursework in International Cuisine, Garde or Banquet, Baking and Pastry and Meat Cutting preferred
• Knife skills, basic culinary skills and meal preparation skills.
• Ability to be sensitive to and understanding of the unique needs of the client population served
• Must pass background check and drug screening (answering “yes” to having a conviction(s) does not automatically disqualify you from employment. The nature of the offense, date of occurrence, and the job for which you are applying are also considered)
