Job Description

Position: Kafka Admin

Location: Alpharetta, GA (OR) New York City, NY (Hybrid: 3 days a week)

Experience: 10+ Years

Work type: C2C

PETADATA is currently looking to hire for the position of KAFKA ADMIN for one of their clients.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Handle all Kafka environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka Cluster.

  • Creation of key performance metrics, measuring the utilization, performance, and overall health of the cluster.

  • Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as storage infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of Kafka with other systems.

  • Ability to closely collaborate with product managers and lead engineers.

  • Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures.

  • Create topics, set up redundancy clusters, and deploy monitoring tools, and alerts.

  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for the automation of Kafka tasks.

  • Proactively monitor and set up an alerting mechanism for Kafka Cluster and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability.

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka cluster.

  • Implement security measures to protect Kafka clusters from potential threats.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to production support.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of solid Kafka Admin experience in managing critical 24/7 applications.

  • Design, build, assemble, and configure application or technical architecture components using business requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture and its components.

  • Experience in setting up monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.

  • Hands-on experience in Shell Scripting (e.g. Bash).

  • Knowledge of Kafka security protocols and best practices.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
