Expected Hiring Range: $46,930 -$50,687

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • Works as a member of landscaping team and directs the activities of one or more landscapers at the assigned location.
  • Provides instruction/training to landscapers on proper work methods and standards and monitors work quality.
  • Assists Landscape Supervisor with prioritizing and assigning work to staff, obtaining required tools and materials, and maintaining appropriate documentation as needed.
  • Provides feedback to Landscape Supervisor regarding staff progress and performance.
  • Assists with monitoring work orders to ensure emergency work orders are completed within 24 hours, urgent work orders are completed within 2 days and all other work orders are completed within 6 days.
  • Serves as back-up to Landscapers and the Landscape Supervisor in their absence.
  • Performs semi-skilled landscape and grounds maintenance work utilizing landscape equipment to maintain the grounds of assigned property in accordance with HUD and RHA’s standards for maintaining the grounds.
  • Mows and trims grassy areas with appropriate landscaping equipment.
  • Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, watering, trimming/edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
  • Performs landscape maintenance and renovations such as: pruning; planting and removing trees and bushes, seeding areas for grass, and grading or repairing grounds as needed.
  • Completes work orders for turf management and landscape projects as needed.
  • Uses independent judgement and expertise to elevate the appearance of assigned property within RHA’s landscaping guidelines.
  • Gathers and removes litter from property daily.
  • Completes preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment, maintains replacement part inventory and supplies as needed, and ensures proper operation of equipment; performs operation tests of equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license. Drug testing, criminal background check and DMV check required

DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Graduation from high school or its equivalent with additional coursework in landscape applications. 3 to 5 years of experience in landscape maintenance and renovation work including the use of light to heavy-duty equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prior lead/supervisory experience and NC Pesticide Applicators (Grounds) Certification is preferred.

The State of North Carolina chartered the Raleigh Housing Authority (RHA), in 1938. The first two developments constructed to replace substandard housing in the City of Raleigh were occupied in 1940 and 1941. Currently, RHA owns and manages over 1,400 public housing units and administers over 3,921 Section 8 vouchers. The occupancy rate for public housing is 99+% and the Section 8 Program is 100% utilized. There is a waiting list for both programs.

RHA has a nine-member Board of Commissioners that provides oversight for the Authority. Under HUD’s report card called the Public Housing Assessment System, RHA is rated as a “High Performer”. Our most recent score was 97 out of 100. RHA is active in the following areas:
