Job Description

SUMMARY

This role is responsible for ensuring a strong relationship across The IIA’s national institute network (Affiliates). The position will be based at our corporate office in Lake Mary, Florida. The Director will lead the development of collecting and sharing leading national institute practices, assessing, and implementing solutions that meet the needs of members around the world, and identifying collaboration opportunities across the network. The Director will lead assigned IIA projects that reimagine the relationship we have with our National Institutes.

He or she will also oversee the team in charge of operations related to the relationships with national institutes including:

  1. Manage overall day to day operations of Institute Relations
  2. MRA and Addenda
  3. Activity and financial reporting
  4. Provide National Institute support
  5. Ensure effective collaboration and alignment among business units and National Institutes
  6. Create and execute effective business strategies, plans, and procedures

The role will also oversee the entire translations strategy of the IIA. This includes coordinating with partners and internal business units, establishing timelines, and ensuring that the translation strategy is fulfilled.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Develop and manage strategies and initiatives to increase engagement and collaboration across The IIA’s national institute network within his/her assigned area.

  • Manage The IIA’s relationship with the Associated Organizations of his/her assigned area (ACIIA, AFIIA, ECIIA, FLAI, and UFAI) to ensure relevant objectives are shared and mutual efforts are coordinated such as regional advocacy, membership benefit enhancements and joint projects and engagement that seek to build capacity in different regions.

  • Plan and host national institute workshops, Global Assembly, and other meetings in his/her assigned area. These may be held in English, French or Spanish.

  • Oversee all MRA requirements, reporting and customer service initiatives of National Institutes.

  • Collaborate across business units and national institute network to develop and deliver responsive products and services of value to IIA members, including working closely with all peers on existing opportunities and new programs including, but not limited to, policies, advocacy and public policy, member competency and learning, content development.

  • Partner with The IIA’s research team and independently collect business intelligence to identify service and member needs, engagement opportunities, identify leading global practices, produce reports, and develop solutions to address needs and issues.

  • Implement the translation strategy of the IIA.

  • Lead and implement projects as assigned by the EVP – Global Strategy and Affiliate relations.

  • Travel to various IIA events, Board meetings, and national institute meetings, domestically and internationally, through the year as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision of full-time, contract and/or temp support functions.

COMMUNICATION, STAKEHOLDERS, AND VISIBILITY

In fulfilling this role, the Director will:

  • Communicate, engage, and partner with a range of individuals and stakeholders frequently within the Global Relations team, across other functions of The IIA including Marketing, Customer Relations, Training, and Certifications, and with the leadership and staff and volunteer leaders of IIA national institutes and Associated Organizations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in critical communication skills in written and verbal forms.
  • Develop and foster key internal and external relationships to enable completion of the objectives.
  • The position is based in Orlando.

In fulfilling this role, the Director will:

Qualifications, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Seven to ten years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A graduate degree beyond the normal four-year college program is desired, preferably in international relations, political science, non-profit management, international business, or related field. Internal audit (CIA or similar) or related certification (CISA or other) preferred.

Additional required experience:

  • Association management experience in dealing with high-level executives in a global organization.
  • International travel, global work experience and extensive knowledge of worldwide cultures and events.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Previous facilitation experience.
  • Previous work experience or very knowledgeable in the areas of internal audit, risk management, internal control, corporate governance, or similar is a plus.
  • Proven experience prioritizing and balancing multiple, on-going high-profile projects.
  • Ability to collaborate well with others.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple tasks and projects with strong personal time management skills.
  • Proven ability to meet critical deadlines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent oral and written English skills and public-speaking abilities. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, member groups, and/or boards of Directors. Fluency in French, Spanish or other language is a plus.
