POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing Food item lists for cruise lines: sourcing, monitoring usage and controlling inventory levels in the warehouse, monitoring shortages onboard and follow up with corrective actions, ordering, receiving, etc..
IMPORTANT : Resumes must specify experience in food purchasing - resumes that do not include any previous experience in food purchasing will not be considered for evaluation
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Evaluation and selection of potential domestic and global suppliers for all food items
- Annual usage for food items based on history, menus and instructions from Culinary team
- With Sourcing Dept. on Preparing and Sending RFQs, and analyzing received prices, to take advantage of leveraging usage.
Developing relations with suppliers and negotiating the best possible cost with them.
Sourcing additional food items or special requests for additional items as per instructions from Culinary team, and communicating availability and prices for these items in timely manner
Analyzing warehouse stock for all Food items for replenishment, including placing orders. Keeping Culinary team and purchasing agents informed of inventory status, monitoring items with short shelf life and establishing depletion plans
Processing invoices for inventory orders, and authorizing payments based on contractual agreements with suppliers or manufacturers.
Working with inventory management to ensure all deliveries are fulfilled and reporting any missing or back-ordered items.
Updating Culinary Operations on availability issues and price changes, and working with the team on finding solutions and substitutions
Vendor performance evaluation for availability, pricing and service, based on reports from warehouse staff and vessels reports
Reviewing Quality Reports provided by vessels and work on corrective actions with suppliers and the Culinary team onboard
Reviewing Discrepancy reports provided by vessels and work on finding solutions for all shortages
Maintaining Items in the system for description, unit of measures, activation and de-activation
Providing reports and analysis as needed to the Culinary team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Preferably College education.
