Accounting Manager, Grants

Ibex Consulting is a recently-founded consulting firm that helps high-growth technology companies scale via strategic finance, accounting & ops, and grant management services. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to assist our clients with operating their government grants and contracts, especially those who have multiple concurrently-funded projects.

• Can tell a CEO no and actually prevent them from doing the thing
• Have deep experience putting out QBO dumpster fires
• Have strong opinions about the way CoA, Class, Location, and Customers should be set up in QBO
• Have strong opinions about the best financial tech stack for <$20M / year organizations
• Have met resistance for trying to implement new technological automation at previous jobs and overcome that resistance
• Say the F-word a lot.

Responsibilities:

You will work closely with the CEO and founder of Ibex across multiple client engagements. Core responsibilities will vary, but will including all of the following: 

• Month Close & Invoice Preparation:
  • Review work completed by in-house or client bookkeepers and close client books monthly
  • Prepare invoices / grant vouchers and submit on WAWF, ASAP, VIPERS, Research.gov, and other portals as needed
  • Report to client executive team on project financials and perform BvA and variance analysis

• Indirect Rate Negotiations
  • Prepare indirect rate worksheets for NICRAs, engage with cognizant organizations for provisional and final rate agreements
  • Assist with budget preparation & justifications for client proposals 

• 2 CFR 200 Compliance
  • Work with new clients, including external accounting teams, to clean up books and get to GAAP and 2 CFR 200 compliance
  • Instruct client teams on proper cost allocation principles and troubleshoot issues as they arise. 

Necessary Qualifications:

• 2+ years accounting experience working with federal grants and contracts
• Deep knowledge of Quickbooks Online and varying integrations (ramp, brex, gusto, rippling, avalara, etc.)
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• 4+ years accounting experience working in or with venture backed organizations that have federal grants or contracts
• Proven track record of leading client engagements (e.g. strategic implications of financials results, leading rate negotiations, leading compliance efforts)
• Experience working across DoD, DoE, NSF, and NIH highly desirable 
• CPA

Compensation:
$85,000, negotiable based on experience. 
5% 401k at a 1-1 match
