Social Enterprise Production Manager Location: Chicago, IL 60624 Position Type: Full Time About Revolution Workshop Revolution Workshop is a social enterprise that provides construction and woodworking workforce development for unemployed or underemployed people in partnership with area businesses. We deliver financial independence and careers through skills, hope, and resilience. Position Summary Revolution Workshop teaches woodworking skills while creating beautiful, handmade furniture and home goods. Our Social Enterprise sells these products, and all net proceeds directly support our job training program for unemployed individuals. Revolution Workshop is looking for an experienced tradesperson passionate about growing the future of construction in Chicago. This individual demonstrates technical and experiential competence in sales/takeoff, design, woodworking, construction, and manufacturing, with considerable experience operating a woodworking facility while teaching woodworking skills. Revolution Workshop Roles and Responsibilities: This position is full-time and year-round “Woodshop” side of our Social Enterprise – from customer relationships, to managing the production calendar. A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out and shape stock; assemble wooden articles or subassemblies; mark, bind, saw, carve, and sand wooden products; repair wooden articles, and use a variety of hand and power tools. Maintain interactions with clients and create a production calendar. Follow up on sales leads provided by the Director of Social Enterprise and maintain relationships with all appropriate avenues: architects, designers, contractors, public, and vendors and suppliers. Create and maintain a system for mailing products, manage inventory and backstock. Coordinate production needs related to products. Design projects and shop drawings. Maintain the rules and culture of shop. Teach woodworking skill to the program alumni and maintain production. Create and maintain a work schedule for program alumni who are assisting with woodworking production. Qualifications: Required Administration Sales, design, and takeoffs. Purchasing. Production Schedule. Manage multiple concurrent projects. Excellent computer skills – Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail etc.). Microsoft Office, Excel, ability to learn new systems and databases. Shared lived experience with our program alumni, or at least two years’ experience working with diverse groups. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Must be a team leader and detail oriented. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work to produce required results. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stay organized across multiple projects at the same time. Recognize and respond to emerging priorities and flexibility with your schedule. Excellent writing skills an interpersonal communication. Takes initiative. Able to anticipate program needs. Technical Skills Master Bench Carpenter and Cabinetmaker. Custom woodworking experience. Maintain, organize all shop tools and equipment. Machine maintenance, safety, and repair. Ability to apply hands on techniques for learning experiences furniture, design, and construction.
