Director of Finance

The Finance Director will lead all financial activities, including but not limited to collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.

• Oversee budgets, disbursing departmental funds, manage risk, train accounting staff, and implement all respective financial policies to optimize and streamline financial processes.
  
• Create, execute, and report the company’s financial status to executive leadership and key stakeholders responsible for making important decisions about future investments or budgets.
  
• Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements
  
• Collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
  

• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
  
• Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  
• Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  
• Ensure contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  
• Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  
• Drive all financial planning by analyzing the company’s performance and risks
  
• Monitor the company’s financial position to make prudent financial decisions and address any concerns
  
• Oversee and make recommendations on the company’s finance IT system
  
• Direct all audit and internal control operations
  
• Prepare and run all reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  
• Provide forecasts and related reports to executive leadership and key stakeholders
  
• Safeguard adherence to all financial laws and guidelines
  
• Examine market trends to reduce financial risks
  
• Develop budgets for the business, including assessing the financial needs for each department’s short and long-term goals
  
• Provide counsel to CEO regarding spending and allocated budget
  
• Recruit, hire, and manage critical talent for the finance and accounting departments
  

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field; a Master’s Degree or CPA is preferred but not require
  
• Proven experience as director of finance or similar role
  
• Ability to translate financial concepts and to collaborate effectively
  
• A track record in grants management
  
• Experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
  
• Deep understanding of financial analysis and forecasting
  
• Intermediate user of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP, GrantHub, Quick-books)
