Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Team Leader coordinates, supervises and monitors the activities and workflow on their respective line to ensure that all production objectives and quality standards are achieved according to pre-established goals, standards and metrics.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the front-line supervision of a core group of Team Members.
  • Identifies training needs of direct reports and ensures that all Team Members have the required skills necessary to achieve production and quality standards.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and conflicts on the line by working closely with their respective Group Leader and Human Resources Department.
  • Monitors and evaluates Team Member performance and makes recommendations for promotions, performance improvement plans or disciplinary action.
  • Consistently fosters an environment that promotes teamwork and mutual respect between all direct reports.
  • Ensures that team members are trained according to standard operating procedures and approves and updates Team Member Training Checklist.
  • Maintain operations data, conducts end of shift checklist, cost records and line production reports.
  • Communicates daily production issues in pre and post shift meetings.
  • Monitors and supervises Team Members attendance and is responsible for ensuring that line is properly staffed at the beginning of the shift. Works closely with Human Resources if disciplinary action is needed.
  • Communicates with Offline Team Members as necessary to resolve breakdowns on the production line.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all manufacturing and safety guidelines and standards.
  • Report safety incidents and conducts Safety investigations immediately following an incident. Works closely with Safety Department to determine root cause.
  • Participate actively to improve quality, minimize scrap, and increase productivity and safety

Accountabilities:

  • Continuous Improvement-Kaizen Events
  • Creating and Management of a safe work environment-conducts accident investigations-countermeasures
  • Effective First line supervision
  • Maintaining production standards and achieving target availability
  • Manage Overtime
  • Complete all reports (EOS)
  • Maintain acceptable levels of TM Morale-Increase TM Satisfaction in areas of "Communication"

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience, with several years at a Level 3 and above
  • Production and Processing Quality- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, 3 Pillar, and other standards and techniques for maximizing quality and availability.
  • Mechanical - general knowledge of machines and tools, measurement instruments, automation/robotics, maintenance and repair.
  • Labor and Employment Laws - Knowledge of labor laws that prohibit discrimination in the workplace connected to hires, transfers, promotions, demotions, training, sexual harassment and OSHA/Safety regulations and standards.
  • Computer Knowledge-- MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Active Listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking - talking to others clearly to convey information effectively.
  • Coordination - adjusting actions in relation to others' actions and handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Critical Thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Coaching: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the quality candidates for hire and promotion.
  • Continuous Improvement-Knowledge of Kaizen.
