Unit Details:
Patient to Nurse Ratio: 4:1, with a seasonal rotating ratio of 5:1.
Beds: The Cardiac Surgical PCU has 36 beds, while the Cardiac Heart Failure Unit has 29 beds.
Patient Population: Our units offer nurses the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, providing exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.
Common Diagnoses & Exposures:
Cardiothoracic Surgery: CABG, Valve replacements, TAVR, thoracotomy, VATS, lobectomy, and lung resection
Heart Failure, Arrhythmia, Cardiac monitoring
Chest tubes, Pacemakers & Defibrillators
Pre & Post Cardiac Catheterization
Cardiac drips, Central lines
Removal of pacing wires, chest tubes, and various lines
