POSITION: Senior Associate, Equity, Proximity, & People Operations

LOCATION: Boston, MA or Washington, D.C. (in office 2-3x per week)

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Senior Associate, Equity, Proximity, & People Operations, this person will be a key member of both the growing Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Proximity (EDIP) Team and the People Operations (POps) Team. They will focus on a range of essential activities related to executing New Profit’s internal EDIP strategy and the priorities of the People Operations team. Reporting to Geo Hernandez, Associate Partner of Equity and Proximity, the Senior Associate will partner with Geo, the rest of the EDIP team, and the POps team to champion New Profit’s ongoing commitment to building a strong organizational culture with a particular emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate brings entry-level experience working across teams and functions within nonprofit organizations, a strong EDIP lens, and a passion for the work of New Profit and the communities we work with.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this integrated role, we anticipate that responsibilities will be split into approximately 60% EDIP and 40% POps. As a new position, the tasks and responsibilities may change as the organization’s needs evolve based on need. Initial areas of responsibility include:

Data Collection and Analysis (35%)

  • Collect and analyze data to elevate lessons learned from the implementation of EDIP and POps programming, including:
    • Regularly collect, analyze, and synthesize EDIP and POps data so that we can track and assess how our current initiatives are working (individual EDIP goals, team goals, POps goals, etc.)
    • Project manage the qualitative data collection toward our EDIP org goals of decision making and trust (formative assessment before our annual survey)
    • Project manage staff engagement data collection, including annual engagement survey

Staff Learning (35%)

  • Co-design and co-facilitate professional development for internal staff in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, and proximity, including:
    • Provide support for our internal staff affinity group learning sessions
    • Provide support for learning community of cross-team leaders working on team culture
    • Facilitate sessions at all staff events, such as connection and relationship-building activities, and over time, develop the skills/knowledge to co-facilitate the delivery of core EDIP content
  • Support design and implementation of quarterly org retreats (Learning Weeks)
    • Create materials for staff communications and facilitation materials for learning events
  • Create and regularly update a learning bank of EDIP and talent-related professional development (PD) opportunities and resources
  • Track PD activities across the organization so we can see what resources are being used, what organizations our team members are connecting with, and how individual PD content could be integrated into larger staff learning sessions
 

Administrative Support and Operations (30%)

  • Build and maintain routines and systems within our Google Drive to support EDIP and POps activities
  • Provide support to key people operations processes (recruiting/onboarding, compensation, employee growth/growth management, workforce planning)
  • Help to coordinate communication with the organization on key POps priorities
  • Facilitate / support completion of relevant HR administrative documents (payroll change forms, new position request forms, separation agreements, etc.)
 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have an associate’s degree or higher, or equivalent work experience, and at least 2-3 years of overall professional work experience
  • You have the ability to manage multiple, detailed projects with the ability to follow through and drive toward deadlines, both for yourself and within teams
  • You have superior organizational skills and are detail-oriented
  • You have a high level of interpersonal maturity, poise, and professionalism
  • You have excellent judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • You enjoy working with data and have an intermediate command of Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You are a collaborative team player who is willing to give and receive feedback
  • You can work independently and with remote team members
  • You embody and demonstrate your commitment to New Profit’s mission, social entrepreneurship, and social change
  • You are excited to continue to learn and stretch yourself professionally and personally in the areas of race and power dynamics

STARTING SALARY
We are currently hiring for a Senior Associate level candidate. The salary range for this position will be $76,380 - $82,283, with the exact salary depending on prior work experience and the assessment of one’s fit for the role. Additionally, New Profit provides a suite of competitive benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, and a generous PTO policy with an end-of-year winter break.
