PersonalRX, a rapidly growing mail order pharmacy, is looking to hire pharmacy technicians (NY license and Bilingual-Spanish - both are preferred). This technician is needed to assist our patient onboarding, personal care teams and to operate our state-of- the-art automated dispensing equipment, as we are adding many new patients every day.

  • NY State license preferred
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred
  • Experience operating automated dispensing equipment preferred

Job Description

Patient Care Coordinator
  • Contact assigned patients at least once/month to review current medications and to determine if there are any changes
  • Contact patient's doctors for new or changed prescriptions or if a renewal prescription is needed
  • Process Prior Authorization requests if needed and enter required information into the system once a response is received
  • Work with the QA Analyst and Pharmacists when there is a shipping issue to determine if the order needs to be reshipped
  • Work with the Pharmacists when there is an out-of-stock condition and contact the patient or doctor as needed
  • Work with the patient to obtain any outstanding account balance
  • Complete patient updates as needed (e.g., new address, alternate address, credit card or insurance coverage change)
  • Proactively work with the patients at year-end to see if there will be any new coverage/insurance changes in the new year
  • Enter test claims for new potential patients to determine their copays
  • Update patient notes as needed

Onboarding Technician - complete the following onboarding activities
  • Contact pharmacies to transfer in prescriptions for new patients
  • Contact doctor's offices to obtain new prescriptions for the new patients
  • Contact patients as needed to provide status of the prescription transfer
  • Enter the prescriptions into our system
  • Run insurance checks

Dispensing Technician
  • validate orders prior to running equipment
  • run equipment to produce patient dose packs
  • load dose packs into validation/checking machine (Perl)
  • replenish medications in the machines
  • complete daily maintenance as needed
  • complete daily ordering of medications
  • work with pharmacists to expedite/prioritize selected orders
  • actively participate in pharmacy team meetings
  • receive cross training in non automated medication dispensing

Regulatory, Privacy and Other
  • Remains active and in good standing with all licensing requirements of the governing states board of pharmacy
  • Ensures that all HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy are followed
  • Participate in the company policy for recycling
  • Set and complete tasks related to follow-ups in Rx2 to ensure the above work is completed in a timely manner
  • Review existing SOPs and Policy and Procedures and enhance/update as needed
  • Identify issues/topics that require a new policy or procedure - and share with management

All functions or duties of the registered pharmacy technicians shall be performed under the direct supervision of the pharmacists on duty. The pharmacists on duty will be working in close proximity with the registered pharmacy technicians to ensure adequate control or supervision and shall verify and document registered pharmacy technician work.

Note: All staff may be cross trained in another related pharmacy jobs.

- Base salary $45,000 to $48,000 depending on experience
