Vice President of Human Resources

Our client has a portfolio company in Michigan that is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Human Resources to be the HR operating partner within their engineering business to help develop their talent strategy and coordinate efforts in Talent Acquisition and Talent Development in all levels of their business. They currently have 7 locations and 250 plus employees with continued growth.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Human Resources to lead their Human Resources systems. The VP of HR will oversee all aspects of HR, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, learning and development, and HR operations.The ideal candidate will be a "player coach," eager to roll up their sleeves and collaborate with the Company's leaders to develop and execute plans for recruitment, training and development, engagement, compensation and benefits, organizational structure, technology, and compliance. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in professional services, particularly within the engineering industry.
A strong understanding of talent acquisition and development through career pathing and learning management models is preferred. Additionally, candidates should be enthusiastic about building a team and innovating solutions within the sea of sameness that is engineering recruiting and development.This position reports directly to the President.

Responsibilities:
- Partner with business leaders to identify organizational development needs and develop solutions that drive results.
- Lead HR team by example by doing first then teaching and delegating to the broader team
- Develop and implement human resources policies, procedures, and programs that align with the overall strategic direction of the organization.
- Oversee and manage the recruitment process to ensure the hiring of top talent in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee benefits administration, including the design and implementation of programs that are competitive and aligned with industry standards.
- Develop and maintain compensation structures that are aligned with the organization's overall compensation philosophy and competitive with industry standards.
- Develop and implement learning and development programs, building a firm-wide learning management system ("LMS") that aligns with the organization's overall strategy and goals.
- Assist with organizational succession planning and career development.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Lead HR operations, including HRIS, payroll, and other administrative functions.
- Develop and manage the HR budget.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the broader Business Unit HR team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in Human Resources with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role.
- Experience in professional services, preferably within the engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of learning management best practices.
- Experience with HRIS systems and other HR technology solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Experience partnering with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support business goals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of tools such as Hogan Assessments, Predictive Index, DISC, and other tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of competency modeling and learning models (70/20/10) is preferred.
- Human Resources Certification (SHRM, CHRP, etc.) is preferred.
