Job Description
SUMMARY:

Azamara is seeking an innovative, passionate, detail oriented, and organized AVP, Accounting to help evolve and propel our team during a time of exciting growth.

Responsible for certain aspects of the accounting function for the company, including accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, shipboard financial operations, shoreside hotel and marine accounting, corporate accounting, and general ledger maintenance. The role oversees the development and implementation of accounting policies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Guides the team to establish systems of internal controls and processes/procedures to ensure its general ledger and supporting records are maintained in accordance with internal policies and external regulations.
Works with the other AVP of Accounting to ensure timely and accurate financial monthly closes of the general ledger along with the timely dissemination of financial information. Serves as key advisor to the CFO.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: (Job Duties)
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including the general ledger, operations accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, cash management, and consolidation.
  • Optimizing core processes throughout the accounting organization to drive efficiencies in the monthly close and consolidation of financial information, ensuring accounting policies and practices comply with accounting standards and the company’s governance policies, procedures and control systems.
  • Overseeing and directing a comprehensive system of financial reporting to provide pertinent information on the Company’s operating results and financial condition to management and stakeholders.
  • Working on special projects in various initiatives that require input from an accounting and controls perspective, such as reviews of capital structure, M&A transactions, system implementation, new product development, accounting policy, etc.
  • Overseeing and directing Accounting activities including: monthly close-to-report cycle, analysis and accounting for complex transactions, external reporting, audit and compliance, and financial system implementation/maintenance, analysis of results of operations.
  • Preparing the quarterly and annual financial statements and serving as the primary contact with external auditors and regulatory agencies for quarterly reviews and annual audit of financial statements.
  • Assisting the Head of Tax to ensure that all tax returns and issues are planned and accounted for properly and timely.
  • Collaborating with the Director of FP&A to develop and implement annual budgets, forecasts and projections, and financial planning procedures.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR: (Requirements)
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting with a track record of managerial responsibility preferably with a public company and Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, advanced educational degree (i.e. MAcc) preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in active and good standing.
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Experience leading large teams of geographically dispersed individuals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Cruise industry experience preferred.
  • General Ledger experience a must; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Hands-on, curious, and constantly seeking out new knowledge.
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and get into the details to optimize accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Easy to work with and can build strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, a high degree of accuracy, and detail oriented.
  • Possess a great sense of urgency in completing deliverables and meeting deadlines.
