Job Title: Assistant Distribution Manager

Purpose of the Role:

As an integral member of our distribution team, you will provide essential support to our distribution operations by guiding activities within fulfillment, parcel, and truck shipping areas with a focus on nurturing a collaborative and positive team environment.

Reporting Line: You will report directly to the Distribution Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead our dedicated shipping team with a focus on fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment. You’ll train and guide the team, addressing daily operational challenges and striving to meet both short-term tasks and long-term goals.
• Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence: Take charge of the outbound shipment quality, ensuring precision and efficiency in our order fulfillment processes. Your role will be critical in managing inventory transactions and ensuring our truck orders are assembled meticulously.
• Collaborative Work Planning: Work hand-in-hand with the Distribution Manager to craft daily assignments that align with our transportation department’s objectives, ensuring smooth operations from shift start-up to shut-down, while upholding our work ethic standards.
• Safety & Organization: Maintain an organized workspace by adhering to safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal standards and embracing 5S principles.
• Training & Support: Lead the training initiatives for new shipping team members, especially in utilizing hand-held devices for batch processing, while providing ongoing support and problem-solving expertise.
• Performance Management: You will be entrusted with overseeing the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), addressing any issues of productivity and quality, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Team Assessment & Coaching: Assess and ensure each team member’s strengths are effectively utilized, coaching them through performance-related discussions and contributing to their professional growth.
• Operational Knowledge: Become adept with customer-specific requirements, especially concerning pallet builds, labeling, and truck order fulfillment to meet our esteemed clients' unique needs.
• Continuous Improvement & Leadership: Actively engage in continuous improvement efforts, promote and uphold our standard work practices, and embody the Faber-Castell core values through hands-on leadership.
• Administrative Responsibilities: Approve timecards for all direct reports and perform other relevant duties as needed.

Requirements for Success:

• Educational Background: High school diploma or GED is a must, with a preference for those with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
• Experience: At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a distribution center or warehouse, leading hourly employees.
• Knowledge Base: In-depth understanding of warehouse procedures, policies, and lean practices, with additional experience in LTL and TL shipments being advantageous.
• Operational Expertise: Hands-on experience with high-volume pick, pack, and shipping operations.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and attention to detail. You should be driven by deadlines and detail-oriented, with a proficiency in interpreting data to drive decision-making.
