Job Summary:
Provide medical evaluations and treatment of clients under the supervision of the Medical Director and work collaboratively with the medical/clinical staff under the guidelines of state licensure for Nurse Practitioners.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None
Position Qualifications:
Master’s in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited college or university
Current Ohio Nurse Practitioner License
Clinical experience working with client population
Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities:
- Participate in the formulation of client Master Treatment Plan.
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team.
- Assess physical and psychiatric health of client and formulate measures to meet client needs.
- Provide direct client care.
- Chart clinical observation (direct or through dictation), evaluations and treatment of client in required time according to Hospital guidelines.
- Communicate with physicians and other staff as necessary to provide quality care for client within appropriate guidelines.
- Provide on-call responsibilities on scheduled basis directed by medical staff.
- Make recommendations, write/dictate orders and prescribe appropriate treatment.
- Maximize opportunities for quality care.
- Contribute to and participate in performance improvement.
- Maintain appropriate and safe physical management skill requirements.
- Documentation reflects nursing process, including individualized education and discharge planning needs of client and family. Develop an individualized treatment plan with measurable goals that reflects understanding of treatment process.
- Encourage family involvement in client care. Respond to identified client and family educational needs.
- Support and follow legal requirements, hospital policy and procedures, medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements.
- Provide services that are in accordance with the state guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.
- May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. May prescribe medication.
Additional Skills / Qualifications:
- Knowledge of psychopathology and general knowledge of medical care of patients
- Understanding of resiliency and recovery in mental illness and substance abuse, and treatment approaches and techniques.
- Interest in working with patients with psychiatric diagnoses.
- Ability to work under stress with patients who may require constant observation.
- Flexibility in work schedule; but must work Mondays.
