Summary:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including planning, investing, accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and other financial matters. The Controller develops and implements tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support.


Accountability: Vice President of Operations


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the finance team responsible for financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
  • Implements internal control policies and procedures for all financial activities.
  • Oversees employee training programs and identifies training needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and investment activities.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversees the preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Reviews financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identifies development opportunities and improvements that can be made.
  • Maintains internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenses.
  • Works with the executive team to guide the organization’s financial decisions.
  • Collaborates with department heads to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Establishes and maintains effective internal control procedures to safeguard Organization assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Manages cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Participates in strategic planning activities to align financial objectives with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure Prosperity Now’s performance.
  • Collaborates with external auditors to provide information needed for the annual audit.
  • In collaboration with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Provides management with short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Develops and enforces internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures.
  • Acts as financial liaison to the Board of Directors finance committee.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least 10 years’ work experience in the field of accounting or finance of which at least three years were in a senior level manager position or equivalent level.
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent and highly accurate math and accounting skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and specialized accounting software used by the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility: This role supervises the Finance Department.


Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Salary Range (Min-Mid-Max): $112,308 - $146,000 - $179,692


Travel: 10%


FLSA Classification: Exempt
