Showtimers of Roanoke Valley, Inc. is looking for a theatre-enthusiast to be our permanent Theatre Operations Manager. This role is an hourly part-time position. The theatre manager is an essential part of Showtimers that ensures all building and operational concerns are handled smoothly and efficiently, including customer service, event management, and volunteer staff supervision. This leadership role requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for delivering quality theatre experiences to all.

This is a paid position at a nonprofit community theatre. Pay is $15.50 per hour for ~20 hours each week, plus more during show weeks. The nature of this position won’t allow the theatre manager to participate in the shows except for in a handful of roles. Those interested in acting or directing at Showtimers won’t be able to do so in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Professional and efficient customer service for members and patrons.

  • Answering emails, paper mail, and voicemails by providing friendly and accurate information.

  • Checking safety and functionality of the building as a whole.

  • Addressing maintenance issues and notifying the board as they arise.

  • Maintaining all supplies and necessary equipment or materials.

  • Ordering scripts and rights from publishing houses and returning them when necessary.

  • Managing ticket sales across multiple channels.

  • Checking in guests using TIX during shows.

  • Scheduling and managing ushers for all performances.

  • Full knowledge of Showtimers events, shows, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Keeping clear paths of communications with the board of directors and committee chairs.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, revenue, and expenses.

  • Collaborate with the publicity chair to promote upcoming shows and events.

  • Regularly meeting with the treasurer and ensuring bills are paid.

  • Attending monthly board meetings.

  • Other related operational duties as required.

Training:

The theatre manager will get paid training for the responsibilities of the role as well as on our TIX point of sale and check-in system.

Qualifications:

  • Capable of correct usage of office equipment.

  • Proficient in money handling procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and interacting with members and patrons.

  • Prior experience managing others and/or maintaining buildings preferred.

  • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office.

  • Basic budgeting and data analysis/reporting skills.

  • Understanding of non-profit organizations.

  • The ability to routinely climb, crouch, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • A passion for community theatre and bringing quality art to all.

Schedule:
