The Internship:

The Wallick Communities Accounting internship will provide the opportunity to gain real-world accounting experience while working at a company that makes a big difference in countless communities daily! With guidance and mentorship from accounting team members across varied functions, you will gain experience reviewing financial reports for accuracy and timeliness, reviewing audits and tax returns for 200+ entities, monthly financial statements for our non-profit partners, and other accounting tasks as needed. In a post-covid world we are happy to remain a work-from-home friendly employer. This internship will begin in the office for your training, and you'll then transition to a remote environment.

The Experience:

You'll gain first hand "real world" experience working with a dynamic team. Some of the items where real world experience will be gained include:
  • Reviewing audit reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Evaluating and reviewing tax returns for completeness and accuracy, matching to the audit report
  • Performing analytical procedures on Affordable Housing financial statement accounts
  • Conducting internal audit functions on financial statement balances
  • Participating in financial projects that relate to internal controls, streamlining of tasks, and various other General Ledger assignments
  • Conducting General Ledger account reconciliations and reclasses
About You:
  • You're an accounting major who has taken Intermediate 1 accounting, or
  • You've earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and are currently pursuing a master's degree in accounting
  • You demonstrate above-average competency in accounting and have a strong GPA
  • You're a self-starter and detail-oriented
