Job Description

Background: VA Connecticut Healthcare System West Haven and Newington Campuses require complete Survey, Inspection and Testing of Fire and Smoke Dampers.
Job Title: Fire Protection Technician.
Location: VAMC West Haven 950 Campbell Ave West Haven CT.
Schedule: Monday through Saturday outside of regular business hours after 5:00 p.m. and before 6:00 a.m.
Qualifications:

Replace missing access handles for the doors for the fire and smoke dampers.
Training in the installation, maintenance, and testing of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire suppression systems.

Duties:

Remove and reset fusible links to verify that each damper fully closes, and if necessary, replace any fusible link that is compromised.
remove debris and lubricate all moving parts on each damper.
replace or repair damaged or oxidized springs.
Replace missing access handles for the doors for the fire and smoke dampers.
