Special Inspector / Engineer IV-PE

Ancora Engineering is a team of design professionals providing engineering services for the development and construction industry throughout New York City. Our services include new structures, support of excavation, shoring and bracing, demolition, and protection systems; building condition assessments; special inspections; construction monitoring; and forensic engineering.

Ancora is seeking a motivated Special Inspector/Geotechnical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience with valid PE to join our team in New York, NY. We offer hands-on engineering field and design experience that will prepare you for the PE exam if you have not already acquired it.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will…

• Work as overall engineering lead on assigned projects reporting up to supervising engineers.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and calculations.
• Review of designs, drawings and calculations.
• Have field experience with construction monitoring.
• Perform field investigations and site visits to oversee projects, willing to spend 75% of working hours in the field.
• Prepare reports and other technical documentation.
• Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls.
• Manage project documentation and status.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required. Master’s degree with Geotechnical specialty preferred.
• PE license required.
• ICC Certs in Welding, Bolting and Masonry.
• Sound comprehension of geotechnical engineering principles.
• Working knowledge and experience with structural design.
• Ability to work with engineering analysis software.
• Familiarity with construction drawing standards; and experience preparing design drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail, organized and strong problem-solving skills.
• A self-starter, and team player.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clarity and concision, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• The position is full time and requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends. Bonus pay provided for weekend work and some extended hour sites.
