Job Description

Job Summary:

SWE Technical Sales Person- Battery Solutions will have the primary responsibility to originate, negotiate, and close large battery, charger, and related battery solutions purchase orders in the Medical, Subsea, and Oil & Gas MWD electrical equipment market segments for Southwest Electronic Energy (SWE) and Ultralife’s (ULBI) Battery and Energy Business. The position requires a strong listening and customer consultant oriented sales skill set with sufficient DC electrical power and systems understanding to understand engineer’s requirements and define, recommend, and explain appropriate battery system solutions based on SWE and ULBI battery product portfolio. Experience in selling into one of the defined market segments is expected, and ability to expand selling into the other segments would be required. Also, one should exhibit well-developed written and verbal communication skills, customer relationship management capabilities, desire to learn, and a personable, self-driven, get-it-done sales oriented personality.


Essential Functions*:

• Primary focus and function will be the origination, negotiation and closing of greater than $50K opportunities for specified existing accounts & and growth of target accounts in the target market segments.

• Target Market Segment Focus:

o Subsea: Existing Account battery solution support and new customer acquisition for Subsea Vehicles and Infrastructure, Oceanography.

o Medical Devices: Battery solution new customer acquisition for Medical Electronics market segment.

• Other Market Segments:

o Oil & Gas MWD: Existing Major Account battery solution support for existing Oil & Gas MWD and new customer acquisition for Hazardous Location Electronics market segment.

o Industrial Applications: Battery solution for new customers acquisition for Industrial Applications.

o Military Devices: Battery solution new customer acquisition for Military Electronics market segment.

• Other Responsibilities to include:

o Sales opportunity pipeline development activities and CRM information capture

o Lead follow-up and deal closure activities

o Sales contract Agreements and contract execution

o Execution of sales account plans for target accounts

o Account operations support

o Sales revenue forecasting



MEASUREMENTS & METRICS

• Quarterly & Annual revenue (sales) achievement versus plan/quota

• Product knowledge ramp

• New Customer Design Win and Sales Stage Progression of Opportunities

• Sales Pipeline Growth

• Participation in company and technical product training;

• Self-teaching in batteries and target end equipment battery use

• Sales Skills growth


Education / Training / Skills / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or Marketing

Required:


• Five plus years of relevant professional sales experience, ideally in large scale design / project business development, either for a major manufacturer, battery, medical electronics, subsea vehicles, or MWD company.

• Excellent communications, presentation, and business development skills.

• Track record of large deal opportunity development and Order closing.

• Ability to gain technical product knowledge and possess technical DC power capability to understand customer engineer’s power requirements and explain SWE product value proposition of benefits and features, including demonstrations of battery products.

• Strong skill set in Value Based and Consultative Selling

• Strong skill set in Microsoft Office Suite (strong skills in Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook and Word) and CRM

• Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and accounts or deals in process.

• Ability to productively work with other members of the team, including Management, R&D, Engineering, Customer Project Admin, Finance, Production, Shipping, etc.

• Excellent communication skills with a high level of social competence.

• Ability to technically dialog with Customer Engineers and present SWE Battery products/Solutions.

• Ability to develop and grow strong customer relationships.

Physical Requirements:

• Travel – up to 40% travel including customer visits and trade shows.

• Work mostly in Office Environment, but partial time Home Office available
