Job Description

Job purpose

Under direction of the Director of Quality or the Quality Manager, perform diversified duties to include maintaining the range, control ammunition storage and usage, and conduct safe firearm training to employees. Assist R&D engineering in new product testing, aide operations teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of range operation, including implementing all safety protocols.
  • Manages all aspects of firearms safety, training processes, oversight of firearms qualifications and maintenance protocols.
  • Ensures range is operated in accordance with company policies.
  • Develops and provides individual and group instruction on proper firearms techniques including all aspects of firearms safety, handling, shooting, targeting and training.
  • Maintains firearms inventory and necessary range supplies. Provides for the proper storage of all range equipment, including safety gear, ammunition, and targets.
  • Repairs and services firearms.
  • Maintains records of range activities, range maintenance, and operations and submits reports to management, as required.
  • Accountable to maintain all range mechanical systems, including, but not limited to, air filtering, range cleanliness, and arranging trap maintenance/clean out.
  • Accountable for safe lead collection and disposal.
  • Responsible for maintaining lead abatement and cleaning procedures.
  • Train the repair and product service personnel in proper diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair techniques
  • Create written guides for in proper diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair techniques
  • Create standardized repair codes and reports
  • Assist in finding root cause (s) of top functional issues.
  • Qualify products for sales samples, media guns, Agency T&E guns, special events, VIP’s etc
  • Perform Product Quality Audits.
  • Assist sustaining engineering with first article test and evaluation.
  • Provide technical assistance to quality, engineering, and operations. Train same on customer expectations and firearm function.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of directly related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Prior range master responsibilities a plus
  • An NRA approved firearm safety instructor preferred

Working conditions

Exposure to shop elements, including lead, making conditions less desirable than usually found in an office. When actively shooting, must be able to wear appropriate hearing and clothing protection.

Physical requirements

  • Standing - 8 Hours per day (or more)
  • Walking - 6 to 8 Hours per day
  • Lifting (below shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
  • Lifting (above shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. - frequently
  • Push/Pull – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
  • Stooping/kneeling/bending – 2 hours per day – occasionally
  • Must be able to consistently operate a firearm for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
