Staff Electrical Engineer

Reports to: Director, Electrical Engineering
As a key member, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and implementing electrical designs for our diverse range of new products and technology development projects. You will be part of a team that develops and own hardware modules such as drives, control systems, sensors, and communication systems. As a senior member of our electrical engineering team, you will get the opportunity to lead new product development teams and mentor early talent.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the design and development of mixed signal HW, power conversion HW and electrical assemblies from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to plan and execute new products and technology development projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and alternative analysis for proposed design architectures and recommend optimized solutions.
- Generate detailed engineering documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, and engineering test plans.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends related to power electronics, control systems, sensors and recommend their integration into products.
- Work with suppliers to select key components such as MCUs, MPUs, IGBTs, sensors, communication modules, etc. and explain rationale for selection.
- Design and analyze circuits, ensuring their compliance to relevant industry safety standards and EMI/EMC standards.
- Perform component and system level DFMEAs.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and actively participate in design reviews and knowledge sharing sessions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc. Degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, or closely related field
- Proven experience (10 years) in electrical HW design, simulation, and validation
- Proven experience (7 years) in being an integral member of a new product development team that has launched multiple products.
- Experience in using CAD tools such as Cadence for schematics and PCB design; PSpice/Simulink/PSIM for design analysis.
- Hands-on experience with design for reliability and design for manufacturability best practices
- Have experience with analyzing, designing, and testing HW to meet EMI/EMC compliance standards and electrical safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably in power electronics.
- Solid understanding of emerging technologies related to power conversion topologies, computing platforms, signal processing and wired communication interfaces & systems (CAN/Ethernet/USB/Serial)
- Working knowledge of embedded software to debug issues.
- Prior experience in designing systems to meet functional safety design standards.
