Department Information

The Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology is a dynamic and growing unit of over 50 faculty and staff serving over 2,000 majors enrolled in a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. The existing Kinesiology program includes both an undergraduate degree with approximately 1,000 students and a Masters in Kinesiology degree that includes concentrations in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Exercise Science, and Coaching Education. This position will fill teaching needs within Kinesiology program.



Job Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, the Visiting Instructor of Kinesiology will teach five courses, or the equivalent of 15 semester hours, each semester, including the undergraduate course Foundations of Exercise and Sport Psychology. Depending on the successful candidate's area of expertise, the Visiting Instructor of Kinesiology will also teach either undergraduate Exercise Science courses (e.g., Research Methods, Administrative Principles in Kinesiology, Anatomy and Physiology, etc.) or undergraduate Health Sciences courses (e.g., Health Communication, Management of Health Information, Health Issues and Resources. etc.) each semester. Appropriately credentialed faculty may also teach Health and Exercise Psychology. This is a 10-month appointment (August 2024 - May 2025), and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. All visiting instructor positions are one-year non-tenure track appointments.

Required Qualifications

Earned master's degree* in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Kinesiology, or a closely related discipline by August 1, 2024 with 18 graduate semester hours in Sport and Exercise Psychology or Kinesiology.



Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.



Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.



*Note: An earned doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology or a closely related discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in Sport and Exercise Psychology or Kinesiology will be required to teach courses in the graduate Sport and Exercise Psychology concentration.



Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching college/university courses in Sport and Exercise Psychology.



Potential for online teaching.



Desired Qualifications:



Experience teaching college/university courses in either Health Sciences or Exercise Science.



Experience teaching online college/university courses.



Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
