Our client's employees are licensed engineers and certified technicians who specialize in geotechnical engineering, construction materials evaluation in both field and laboratory, geological sciences, subsurface exploration, and investigative engineering.
Summary:
Our client is currently looking for a Senior (Sr.) Geotechnical Engineer and a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. The responsibilities and requirements for these positions vary according to the experience level of the candidates.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Senior Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for project management, report preparation, specification writing, foundation design, and geotechnical calculations, as well as providing mentorship to junior geotechnical staff.
Mid-level Geotechnical Engineer
The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for report preparation, specification writing, foundation design, geotechnical calculations, and field explorations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Senior Geotechnical Engineer
- Direct and execute geotechnical project assignments including complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory analysis.
- Be thoroughly engaged in loss prevention and limitation of liability on geotechnical assignments.
- Provide mentorship to Geotechnical and Staff Engineers.
- Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
- Perform shallow and deep foundation designs and slope stability analysis.
- Perform deep foundation analysis for diverse types of piles.
- Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination, liquefaction analysis, site-specific spectral response analysis, liquefaction induced settlement analysis.
- Conduct group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study and lateral load and deflection behaviour analysis.
- Develop and manage geotechnical laboratory testing programs.
Mid-level Geotechnical Engineer
- Perform complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory analysis.
- Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
- Perform shallow and deep foundation designs and slope stability analysis.
- Perform deep foundation analysis for various types of piles.
- Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination, liquefaction analysis, site-specific spectral response analysis, liquefaction induced settlement analysis.
- Conduct group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study and lateral load and deflection behaviour analysis.
Geotechnical design of:
- Shoring and bracing systems such as soldier pile lag walls, sheet pile walls, cellular coffer dams, secant pile walls.
- Tieback anchors and rock anchors.
- Retaining walls such as segmental retaining walls, cantilevered retaining walls, gabion walls, reinforced earth walls.
Qualifications and Skills
Senior Geotechnical Engineer
- Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering.
- Master of Science, PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred, but not required.
- Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience with vertical construction and limitation of liability.
- Ability to interact with client and design team during design and construction phases of a project.
- Proficient in project management with proven ability to meet business goals.
- Strong background in soil mechanics with extensive knowledge of geotechnical analysis and laboratory testing.
Mid-level Geotechnical Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential for practicing independently and signing off on designs.
- Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, and specific experience with vertical construction projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Compensation: $90 - 130k annually
Mid-level Geotechnical Engineer
Compensation: $80 - 100k annually
