Overview:
One of the automotive industry's leading heavy-truck manufacturer is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their team. Position is responsible for leading a group of automotive suppliers, in providing quality powertrain components in sufficient capacity. This position is within our Aftermarket Supply Chain organization, and will report to the responsible Aftermarket Supply Chain Team Leader.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the supplier to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting customer existing or new requirements. Projects may include: PPAP, process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
- Facilitate and help lead the supplier in the advanced product quality planning of aftermarket part supply following the international VDA/RGA process.
- Documents activities related to investigation, disposition and resolution to quality complaints.
- Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity, or drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including DPPM, Quality Complaints, and capacity to support OTS (On Time Ship) compliance.
- Lead or support effort to establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals.
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
- Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of related experience OR an Associate’s degree with 2 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience required.
- Engineering degree is required
- PPAP experience is required
