POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Education Program Manager in the Equitas Health Institute, the Program Specialist role will assist in planning and executing six yearly regional Education and Community Forums (ECFs) for Ryan White Part B clients throughout the state of Ohio. ECFs are multi-day healing and education retreats for Ohio residents living with HIV that provide health, wellness, and financial literacy; help attendees develop coping skills; offer supportive peer networks through community-building activities; feature interactive sessions about living and aging well with HIV; and promote retention in care and knowledge about Equitas Health services and resources. This position will assist with publicizing and promoting the events, collaborate with colleagues to recruit participants, assist with logistics and record-keeping, and travel to and attend all events (lodging, meals, and mileage reimbursement provided for off-site travel).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions of the job include drafting correspondence, filing, sorting, utilizing software for data entry, conducting data collection and management, scheduling and attending virtual and/or in-person meetings, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, traveling to off-site locations for overnight events, and working collaboratively with others.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with program planning and promotion by submitting and monitoring requests to Equitas Health marketing.
  • Collaborates with Health Advocacy staff to identify, communicate with, and approach attendees for Education and Community Forums.
  • Complete HIV 101 trainings (before working with clients) to learn best practices to interact with newly diagnosed individuals or individuals new to care on risk reduction strategies, ways to reduce transmission, treatment adherence, and increased understanding of diagnosis.
  • Helps organize logistics for events including drafting correspondence with venues, guest presenters, and transportation companies.
  • Works collaboratively with Equitas Health Institute staff to identify staff members to assist at Education and Community Forums.
  • Coordinates delivery and set-up of event supplies (e.g., flip charts, projectors, markers, and snacks, etc.).
  • Demonstrate unconditional positive regard to clients and conduct all aspects of job responsibilities with a focus on exceptional customer service.
  • Continuously grow and develop cultural humility, exhibiting an understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity and inclusion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED or equivalent skills, with at least one year working in an office setting including proven ability to work in a team environment.

  • May be living with HIV or representative of the community that is most at risk for being diagnosed with HIV
  • Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, sexual practices, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid Ohio driver's license


SALARY: $37,000-$46,200

OTHER INFORMATION:

Background and reference checks will be conducted. In accordance with Equitas Health's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, pre-employment drug testing will be administered. Hours may vary, including working some evenings and weekends based on workload.
