NOW HIRING: Environmental Health Technician-Mosquito Management Program
Part-time, non-exempt, temporary position
20 hours per week for up to 20 weeks
OEPA Grant Funded
Under direction of a Registered Environmental Health Specialist, the Environmental Health Technician assists with duties within the mosquito management program as outlined in the Ohio EPA Mosquito Control Grant. This position and its duties do not require application of specialized knowledge and skills in environmental health science performed under the supervision of a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
This position focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.
Duties Include:
- Assisting with or performing the setting and collection of mosquito traps, mosquito counting and identification, and West Nile virus testing of mosquitoes.
- Assisting with the management of raising mosquitoes in a laboratory setting and assisting in mosquito insecticide resistance testing.
- This position utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
- Other related duties as assigned within the mosquito management program.
Requirements:
- Completion of secondary education or equivalent;
- Previous experience performing mosquito trapping, identification, or laboratory experience is preferred;
- Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet insurability requirements;
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Hiring Wage Range: $20.00/hour - $24.06/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
