Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting to investors, lenders including annual audits. Also responsible for managing the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting department, which includes the development, training and mentoring of staff, establishing departmental procedures in support of internal controls. You will play a key role in managing the company's financial health and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Reviews all company financial statements for accuracy and aesthetics, including consistency among multiple entities, before they are released to external parties in a timely fashion.
  • Lead and manage the KCM corporate accounting team.
  • Oversees investment fund audits.
  • Coordinates the preparation of business plans for investment funds.
  • Calculates management incentives per operating agreements.
  • Supports the CFO with investor relations and external reporting (lenders, investor partners) and other ad hoc reporting.
  • Corporate budget forecasting.
  • Maintains internal controls and GAAP compliance for real estate accounting.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency, including cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company departments and team members to promote productivity and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

What You Bring to Us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • CPA certification preferred, but not required.
  • Must have 10+ years of general accounting experience and 5+ years managing a corporate accounting team in a Controller function or similar role.
  • Real estate industry and /or public accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Proven experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Experience in multifamily accounting and experience with MRI and Entrata are desirable but not required.
  • Proficient in financial management software and MS Office Suite with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
