ABOUT CMFCAA

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families.

Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 24-county central Missouri region.

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for developing the skills and knowledge of an organization’s workforce. This position will ensure that the organization is equipped with a workforce that can optimize its current and future goals and objectives, and deliver quality service that can meet our clients’ needs. They will be responsible for assisting other employees in the process of developing their performance in the organization and taking part in organizational change programs.


EXAMPLES OF WORK (this list is not exhaustive):

Evaluates employee performance to gauge where skills are lacking

Creates training programs to address skill gaps in employees

Develops onboarding programs for new employees to help them get acquainted with the organization

Researches new teaching and training methods

Finds creative and interesting techniques in delivering information to help employees gain a solid understanding of the materials; adjust training techniques to reach specific groups of people, as needed

Know the material being taught intimately, allowing to effectively respond to employee questions

Creates and manages a training budget

Attends various seminars and training sessions and Train the Trainer

Tracks employee training status for purpose of compliance and engagement

Performs other duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSAs)

Knowledge of various teaching/training methods and approaches

Skill in delivering training to staff

Skill in using Excel spreadsheets and accurately entering/maintaining data

Ability to display strong organizational skills

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to identify gaps in skills and develop trainings to improve deficiencies

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel for work, including potential overnight stays


QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, education, communication, or related field required

Prior teaching or staff training experience


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license

Ability to pass required background checks
