Baler Operator

The Baler Operator operates industrial balers and automated bunker system in the recycling plant. Responsible for basic maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

Responsibilities of Position:

• Performs duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Operates industrial balers and automated bunker system in the recycling plant.
• Performs all assigned basic preventative maintenance on industrial balers and associated equipment.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to industrial balers and associated equipment.
• Operates computer controlled automated bunker system.
• Properly utilize balers and bunkers to ensure single stream processing is not interrupted.
• Responsible for housekeeping in assigned area including equipment and work areas.
• Maintain timely, appropriate, and professional communications with plan operations, maintenance department, and baler foreman.
• Provide daily baler production reports to plan operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing).
• Ability to use hand tools to remove items present in the finished product.
• Ability to understand industry quality specifications and standards.
• Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Safety conscious.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
• Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language.
