Part I- Job Summary
Purpose:
- The Associate Director of Special Projects is responsible for supporting fundraising and other business development efforts. This role focuses on diversifying funding sources through engagement with private foundations, philanthropic entities, individual donors, and other initiatives to diversify and build financial support for the organization. Working alongside colleagues, the Associate Director assists in the implementation of strategies to sustain and expand our mission-driven initiatives. This position contributes to the organization's financial stability by assisting in revenue generation activities while aligning with the National Center’s overarching goals and objectives.
Regular Assigned Duties:
- Research and identify potential funding opportunities from private foundations, philanthropic organizations, individual donors, and grants.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, reports, and fundraising materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant requirements.
- Maintain organized records of donor interactions, contributions, grant deadlines, and application status.
- Cultivate donor relationships through regular communication, acknowledgments, and updates on organizational impact.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives aimed at diversifying revenue streams.
- Coordinate donor meetings and fundraising events, providing logistical support and supporting ongoing positive relationships.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising, sharing relevant insights with the team.
- Provide administrative support for fundraising activities, including scheduling meetings, drafting correspondence, and managing logistical details as needed.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Participates and/or assists in special projects, and performs associated administrative duties as assigned.
- May provide functional direction to lower-level technicians on assigned work.
Part II-Job Specifications
Education Requirements or Equivalent: Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
Specialized Knowledge:
Strong research skills, knowledge of private philanthropy and nonprofit fundraising strategies, proficiency in grant proposal and report preparation, competence in database management, effective communication, collaborative abilities, event coordination skills, and awareness of industry trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising.
Previous Experience Required: At least three years of directly related experience.
Working Knowledge To Be Acquired On Job:
Knowledge of philanthropy and private giving organizations and opportunities that are focused on Native American businesses and economic development.
