CONTENT & PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST

The primary purpose of this position is to assist First Commerce in fulfilling our Vision of Empowering Generations, Transforming Communities This is achieved through delivering Remarkable Member Service as defined by our Service Standards as well as building and maintaining strong member relationships through identification of member's financial needs and effectively recommending appropriate products and services to meet those needs.

The Content & Public Relations Specialist will work as part of a collaborative and highly motivated team to elevate the First Commerce brand and empower generations of people to achieve their financial aspirations. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing compelling stories and content for use across multiple channels and identifying opportunities to position First Commerce as a premier, full-service financial partner through a well-executed content and public relations strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute marketing and public relations initiatives that support First Commerce goals, including writing content for press releases, automated email campaigns, blogs, social media, consumer and trade publications, marketing materials, and various other communication channels (traditional and digital).
  • Manage web site content, including posting new content, recommending improvements to content and navigation based on research or feedback from other departments, and coordinating periodic reviews with other departments and subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevancy of web site content.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to develop a comprehensive content calendar, including social media posts. Consider and recommend options to fully leverage content across multiple channels.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for telling the First Commerce story in ways that are relevant to the communities we serve. Includes conducting research and gathering necessary information to write content.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to package stories, including headlines, subject lines and appropriate graphics/photos geared to target audiences.
  • Increase credit union visibility and engagement by building relationships with local, state and national media (TV, radio, newspaper, digital news), as well as appropriate consumer, business and trade publications.
  • Identify opportunities for recognition of First Commerce and FCCU Foundation efforts through public relations and awards programs for both consumer and business audiences across all markets. Write and submit award entries.
  • Conduct research and follow industry trends to make recommendations for continuing to build member engagement and attract new members (consumer and business).
  • Monitor and report on engagement of content and/or public relations strategies. Evaluate outcomes and recommend adjustments to messaging or strategy based on results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to clearly communicate credit union and FCCU Foundation mission, vision, values, philosophy, and objectives (verbally and in writing).

  • Strong writing, storytelling, presentation, research, and journalism skills.

  • Must be organized, able to prioritize and handle multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines consistently.

  • Proven ability to implement and manage programs and initiatives that meet defined objectives and timelines while staying within budget.

  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram)

  • Strong understanding of technology and web-based services as a strategic communication tool. Experience with WordPress is a plus.

  • Ability to stay abreast of social media, marketing, and public relations best practices.

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently at times and as part of a team.

  • Ability to adapt and shift quickly in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to travel to various locations across credit union service markets in North Florida and South Georgia.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or other related fields preferred. An Associate degree from an accredited university or college with 2-5 years of similar or related experience will be considered.

  • 3+ years experience writing content such as press releases, blogs, feature articles, scripts, marketing materials, social media, and web content.

  • 3+ years experience working with the media, developing relationships, pitching story ideas, coordinating interviews.

  • Experience collecting and using data to measure outcomes and make program adjustments as needed.

  • Experience with various social media platforms and how to use them for promotion of events and programs.

  • Preferred experience with website management.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
