A preschool Education Director is a professional educator who is tasked with the responsibility of managing a preschool. A preschool director builds on the well-respected ethos and reputation of the preschool through collaboration with teachers, parents, principals, and board of directors.
We are actively seeking a qualified preschool director who will oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool. The candidate will be experienced in the field of early childhood development and lead management of the school. The preschool director’s responsibilities include recruitment of staff, property maintenance, marketing and communication, financial management, and communication with role players.
Responsibilities
Direct and develop curriculum and teaching processes.
manage all programs to ensure effective delivery of curriculum and achievement of program outcomes. Manage and provide guidance to teachers and teaching support staff.
Develop a curriculum and program: Child Care Directors work closely with the center’s teachers and staff, creating learning plans or programs to meet state and federal requirements and parent’s expectations.
Overseeing staff, Staff management is probably the most important task of a Child Care Director. They must interview, hire and train staff, making sure that all background and fingerprint checks have been conducted.
Managing facilities, The Child Care Director must make sure that the facility is safe and well-stocked. That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly.
Conduct formal and informal observations and provide constructive feedback.
Develop workshops and educational opportunities that encourage academic enrichment.
Meeting up with parents and teachers: A Child Care Director will meet with parents and teachers to keep parents up to date on their child’s development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues.
Establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations, schools, and parents Perform other duties as assigned.
Market the facility: There is much competition between daycare facilities, so the Child Care Director must have a marketing plan to promote awareness of the facility and its services.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Teaching experience in an urban school setting is highly desired.
The Education Director is at the forefront of the Early Childhood Program and uses reflective supervision to direct Education Staff in their interactions with children and families.
By utilizing best practices and through comprehensive support, the Education leads staff in their efforts to provide an education-rich and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. The Education Director is primarily responsible for planning and implementing a program, which adheres to the policies and procedures of the agency.
Qualifications
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
Valid New York State teaching certification for Birth-2nd Grade (must required).

Master's degree in Education in Early Childhood Education,
with supervisory experience in a Pre-school setting. Must have at least 2 - 5 years UPK experience Knowledge of and experience with early childhood curriculum development.
