We believe that real estate is more than just an investment asset class. It’s the fabric of our society and communities, where people live, work, and build their futures. Our product seeks to revolutionize the way we create those futures.

At InvestNext, we’re on a mission to democratize real estate investing. Our goal is to make investing accessible to everyone, regardless of background.

Our Engineering Manager will work to ensure the successful technical delivery of our product, through engagement in the software development process, architecture decisions, and personal development of our engineers to make it happen. They’re actively thinking about how we can optimize all elements of the SDLC while supporting our engineers as a mentor and coach. Our team of 6 engineers tackles incredibly ambitious projects, and the Engineering Manager will likely dip into writing code as needed for more complex needs.

This role is not only essential for the engineering team’s success, but this person will also collaborate on how engineering’s work affects and influences the work of other departments. Beyond Engineering, most of their collaboration will occur with members of the Product and Customer Experience teams.

In this role, you will

  • Run the development and optimization of our sprint process, presenting data and insights to the team about performance and holding them accountable to high delivery standards – and unblocking them as needed
  • Be accountable for product deliverables on the technical build side; as a counterpart to the Product Manager, this person should be on top how far along we are in technical implementation and serve as the main point of contact for any issues or opportunities
  • Manage the sprint process end-to-end, including communication to other teams about timeline, deliverables, and intended outcomes
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, challenging the Engineering team by poking holes and encouraging them to think differently and question assumptions
  • Collaborate with the Product Support team to design and maintain an efficient and transparent tech support process, including how we triage, deploy, and manage priorities to address customer needs
  • Manage our code review process, ensuring the team is engaging in peer reviews for collaborative quality checks
  • Maintain technical knowledge and always keep an eye on improving best practices, including new technologies that may help us achieve our intended outcomes even better
  • Engage in evolving team design as people upskill and the product expands; examine sprint team responsibilities, identify opportunities to level up engineers, and keep an eye on product and team scaling needs
  • Help the team solve technical problems, serving as the first escalation point for development challenges, troubleshooting, and pairing if necessary
  • Seek opportunities to grow and invest in engineers, to ensure skill expertise and personal development
  • Engage in meaningful 1:1s with the team and keep an eye on individual performance to ensure the team has what they need to deliver on our goals

If you’re right for this role, you must have

  • Experience in a leadership role, such as a technical lead or manager
  • Experience working in a small team environment at a product company
  • Led teams through a time of rapid change or scale
  • Experience with a range of technologies and development tools
  • Experience representing engineers in cross-functional projects
  • A solid career as a software engineer in an individual contributor capacity
  • Excellent project management skills, and an organized approach to process development
  • Built cross-functional processes from scratch
