GENERAL SUMMARY

The Maintenance Assistant position is responsible for supporting & maintaining all aspects of the building, equipment and supplies associated with equipment. Additional duties include safety and OSHA compliance and training and program development. This position will fill in for the Maintenance & Safety Lead as required.

SCOPE OF ROLE

  • Work with the Maintenance & Safety Lead to determine necessary maintenance schedules and provide regular maintenance of all equipment.
  • Identify conditions or equipment that need repair and report to the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Order and stock required shop and maintenance supplies as requested by Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Be available for emergency repairs or contractor coordination as requested by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Work with production staff to ensure that all tools or equipment requirements are being met as requested by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Maintain safety procedures, equipment and protocols as instructed by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Work with production staff to ensure that all tool or equipment safety requirements are being met as instructed by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Develop & maintain standard daily maintenance and operating procedures for all equipment operators as instructed by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for maintenance of all equipment and tools as instructed by the Maintenance & Safety Lead.
  • Maintenance Assistant must be OSHA 10 Certified or be able to obtain OSHA 10 Certification upon starting.
  • Insure adherence to all OSHA requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Work is performed in shop environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and vibration. There is occasional exposure to humid and extreme non-weather related cold or hot conditions. There is frequent exposure to constant very loud sounds sufficient enough to cause distraction.
