Staff / Founding Engineer

We are seeking a Staff+ level founding Engineer with extensive experience in systems thinking and a proven track record of designing, building, and managing high-scale cloud-based services, applications, and solutions.
Join Sunrock Distributed Generation to propel our innovative commercial solar platform forward.  Sunrock is a best-in-class energy aggregation platform of SMB commercial solar assets. Our goal is to unlock access to solar and storage for businesses, non-profits and educational institutions.
In this role, you will take charge of shaping the technical strategy, architecture and execution across various workstreams. This will involve close collaboration with stakeholders, PM, and third-party vendors to ensure that our services meet the demanding requirements of deploying and managing commercial solar at scale.  We are seeking humble and adaptable individuals with positive attitudes for our startup; everyone pitches in wherever needed.

What you'll do
Provide leadership and hands-on implementation of distributed systems and workflows. Our mix of proprietary in-house tech and vendor solutions facilitate the entire lifecycle of commercial solar installations, from pricing, through construction, to operations and maintenance.
Guide business stakeholders on the implementation of the roadmap, technical architecture, prioritization and scoping. 
Build and maintain features with an eye towards scaling the organization and maintaining the highest level of data integrity.
Debug production issues across multiple systems and microservices.
Be a strong steward of our engineering principles, technical strategy and business objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Startup experience.
Led or played an instrumental role in designing and implementing distributed systems, cloud-native, microservices, etc...
Experience mentoring other engineers, leading cross-team projects, and driving design and technology decisions.
A strong bias to ship, iterate and unblock. 
Strong technical background with 8+ years of experience building systems as an engineering lead..
Preferred Experience
Infra-as-code experience, Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, etc..
Experience with data pipelines, ETL tooling
Front-end proficiency, familiarity with frameworks, tooling, component design, etc.
Experience/Interest in solar and/or clean tech.

Location
Remote, but must be in the US and work East Coast hours.
