Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead or Senior Software LMS Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in supporting and building our Learning Management System. As an integral part of FCA, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by creating an engaging and effective online learning platform that empowers coaches and athletes to grow in their faith and leadership skills. With a current user base of over 20,000 individuals from 115 countries, your work will have a significant impact on the lives of those we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Director of Training and be an active and engaged member of the Training team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the unique needs and requirements of our organization and mission.
  • Support and develop a scalable and user-friendly Learning Management System that reflects FCA's values and supports our global community.
  • Implement localization features to provide multilingual support and ensure accessibility for coaches and athletes around the world.
  • Incorporate personalization features to deliver tailored learning experiences and resources based on individual preferences and interests.
  • Integrate third-party tools and resources to enhance the functionality and effectiveness of the LMS platform.
  • Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the user experience and engagement.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in educational technology to inform decision-making and innovation.
  • Familiar with WordPress Themes and Plugins.
  • Collaborate with members of FCA’s Technology team to ensure quality development standards.
  • Work with contractors and other vendors as needed.

Requirements:

  • Professional software development experience using PHP, C#, Python, or a modern language such as JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Management experience, overseeing the work of other engineers or contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development using agile or scrum, with proficiency in web-based applications and services.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as PHP*8, Java, React, Python, or JavaScript, and familiarity with relevant frameworks and technologies.
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and experience with data modeling and optimization is preferred.
  • Understanding of REST API concepts, familiarity with serialization and deserialization, JSON object representation.
  • Has experience using a dependence manager such as Composer and/or PHP framework(s) such as Laravel is preferred.
  • Passion for FCA's mission and values, with a desire to integrate faith into your work and contribute to Kingdom impact.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our users.
