Job Description

OVERVIEW:

Enviroflight's mission is to develop technology that produces sustainable and safe animal feed ingredients using the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens). Our technology enables the mass rearing of insect larvae, feedstock conditioning and mixing, insect life support systems, nutrients recovery, animal feed production, and cold press oil extraction and refining.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supporting all Quality Assurance (QA) activities and functions. This role is responsible for monitoring, reviewing, examining and conducting tasks which ensure compliance with all applicable internal, federal, state, international and third-party requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with live and processed insects, their associated inputs and materials, & resulting products.
  • Collects and organizes data and source documents; follows established guidelines and procedures and requirements of appropriate source document management and handling (fully records information and make appropriate notations. Writes legibly, edits appropriately and initials).
  • Enters electronic data and proofs entries against source documents. Files, distributes, or returns source documents after data has been entered.
  • Conducts product quality testing processes, following schedules and attending to deadlines and budget limits.
  • Maintains physical and electronic quality assurance records, reports, and files on static and shared locations.
  • Assists in QA hold and release of products for distribution: Evaluate product, convey release status to other departments, complete all appropriate release checklists and certifications.
  • Supports product nonconformance investigations: Assists with inquiries of deviations, variances, and product complaints.
  • Maintains in-use and stored samples, supplies and other work-related materials organized and orderly.
  • Interfaces with appropriate staff to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. Responds to staff members inquiries regarding data entered or source documents.
  • Identifies in-house quality issues and communicates to relevant individuals. Offers solutions.
  • Assists other staff, as needed
  • Performs other duties as needed, including occasional travel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from an accredited college/university or technical school in food science, food safety, animal science, agriculture or related field, OR one (1) or more years of position-related experience and/or training.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Sharepoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PCQI certification
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills to contribute to the company culture of continuous innovation and growth while maintaining consistent product quality standards
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently, in areas requiring both manual labor and administrative record keeping
  • Flexible and adaptive to a changing workload from week to week
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, thoroughness and reliability in record-keeping with a demonstrated understanding of required documentation, competence in basic math skills and handwriting technique
  • Ability to consistently and legibly enter data into manual recordkeeping documents and/or into computerized production systems and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and management in the company and approved customers visiting or contacting the company for production information

  • Demonstrated record of safety, productivity, work ethics, and innovation
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality about the company and its proprietary processes and information; a Confidentiality Agreement is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT:

  • Continually required to stand, walk, and use utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The employee may occasionally lift and /or move using equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Additional remarks regarding work environment: All employees must be willing and able to work indoors and outdoors around the insects used in production, to be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, unpleasant odors, and mechanical equipment used for production. Hard hats, safety shoes, rubber or latex gloves, and other protective equipment must be worn as required.
