Job Description

We are urgently looking for a Quality Manager right now for a medium sized machine shop specializing in making small parts for the military and government for their equipment. This opportunity would provide a great opportunity to move into a upper management role quickly as your reports would be upper management employees.

 

  1. Developing Quality Management Systems (QMS):

    • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and update quality policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Quality Assurance:

    • Lead quality assurance efforts to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
    • Establish quality metrics, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, standards, and certifications (e.g., ISO, FDA, GMP).
    • Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry standards and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  4. Auditing and Inspection:

    • Plan and conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of quality systems and identify non-conformities.
    • Coordinate external audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or customers, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  5. Continuous Improvement:

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize manufacturing processes.
    • Implement lean manufacturing principles and quality methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality procedures, standards, and best practices.
    • Foster a culture of quality and accountability by promoting awareness and understanding of quality goals and objectives.
  7. Supplier Quality Management:

    • Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements, evaluate supplier performance, and address quality issues in the supply chain.
    • Implement supplier quality management processes to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ certifications) preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in quality management roles within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on implementing and maintaining quality management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA regulations) and experience with quality auditing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership abilities with a track record of driving change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools and software applications.
