Job Description

This position is responsible for the safe coordination and execution of all construction activities associated with capital projects in our Devens and North Andover facilities.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Direct and supervise all construction activity related to capital projects to ensure safe and efficient implementation, minimizing interruption to production activities.
  • Ensure construction work is carried out to the highest level of safety and quality per design documentation, OSHA and cGMP.
  • Review project drawings (P&IDs, equipment arrangements, structural designs) to ensure constructability.
  • Review job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods and participate in selection of contractors.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Production and contractors to establish timelines for all construction activities.
  • Schedule all construction activities in logical steps and prepare construction schedules and tracking reports.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, production schedule changes, bad weather, or emergencies impacting construction projects.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, near misses or delays associated with construction projects to ensure root cause has been identified and corrective and preventative measures are being carried out.
  • Obtain appropriate permits both internal (permit to work, hot work, confined space, elevated work plan, etc) and external (building permits, etc) as appropriate.
  • Carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in sciences/construction/engineering or 10+ years industry experience in construction project management required.
  • Must have completed OSHA 30 Hour Training
  • 5-10 years of experience in construction in an industrial setting or as a Foreman.
  • Must have experience in multiple construction trades and methods including pipe fabrication/installation, rigging, equipment setting, excavation, electrical installations, etc.
  • Must be a Certified Rigging Competent Person
  • Proficiency in scheduling software such as MS Project is needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision with the ability to influence others to safely achieve quality results.
  • Ability to read and understand operation and maintenances manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
