Energize Your Career: Are you ready to be at the forefront of the clean energy revolution?  MetOx International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in reshaping the future of power generation and distribution.

 

Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, the Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as a pivotal role in developing the MOCVD system. With a focus on enhancing efficiency, throughput, and performance, they leverage their technical expertise to research and innovate future systems. Utilizing 3D CAD packages, they design tools and produce detailed 2D drawings for part fabrication, contributing to product and process improvement initiatives. This role embodies innovation and collaboration essential for advancing company objectives in manufacturing technology.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering:
    • Leads the design and development of mechanical systems, components, and products, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Applies advanced engineering principles and methodologies to solve complex technical challenges, optimize designs, and drive innovation.
    • Prepares detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, to communicate design concepts and findings effectively.
    • Procures fabrication of custom parts that meet specifications and in a timely manner.
    • Identifies opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and performance enhancements, and actively contribute to initiatives aimed at driving operational excellence.
  • Project Management:
    • Owns projects, from initial concept to final implementation, overseeing all aspects of engineering activities, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions into overall manufacturing processes.
    • Leads all tool designs or performance related design reviews and follows up with action items and design decisions.
  • Mentorship:
    • Provides guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering roles.
  • Prior experience in two or more of the following areas: vacuum conductance design, gas flow, heat transfer, radiation heat transfer and modeling, semiconductor CVD/MOCVD reactor design, and CFD & FEA.
  • Hands on experience building, testing and/or assembling engineering equipment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Prior experience in designing high temperature low pressure Roll-to-Roll CVD or MOCVD reactors and systems.
  • Prior experience working with manufacturing start-ups.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools and simulation software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in mechanical engineering design (including GD&T, DFM, Materials Selection).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to proactively identify and communicate risks and timelines to senior management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
