The M&A Associate is responsible for assisting Senior Management members with buy-side mergers and acquisition (M&A) activities from the initial contact through finalization of the transaction as well as post-transaction involvement in with implementation teams. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will play a key role in coordinating M&A related deliverables with internal teams as well as external advisors, accountants and lawyers assisting the company. With prior experience and a solid track record as an M&A Associate, this role offers the ability to work alongside our CEO and other leadership team members, gaining insights and contributing to our corporate and industry strategy. The role is based at our Arlington, VA office.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to identifying acquisition opportunities aligned to our growth strategy through ongoing internal collaboration with CEO, Sales, HR, Finance, Strategy, and Operations teams. The role will help perform research using both public and provided data to quickly analyze and summarize key areas of strength and how it aligns to the corporate acquisition strategy.
  • Assess acquisition prospects and offer management your insights on opportunities.
  • Conducting thorough preliminary due diligence on target companies, spanning financial, legal, and risk aspects. During later phases of Due Diligence, preparation for overseeing daily cross-functional internal due diligence activities for potential acquisitions.
  • Help coordinate internal departments for Day 1 and Day+X sequencing of scheduled activities relating to the acquisition.
  • Oversee daily cross-functional internal due diligence activities for potential acquisitions.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator who tracks meeting notes, data room requests, due outs, deliverables, and other requirements which are necessary to help close the transaction. Ensure we are working against deadlines to provide decisions from management or other information to advisors or other strategic partners. Coordinating meetings to assemble high level input from Senior Management
  • Assist with building forecasts, analysis of metrics and budgets post-acquisition.
  • Stay informed about industry and market trends and share updates with management on transactional activities.
  • Cultivating relationships with relevant parties like target company owners, brokers, and industry representatives.
  • Participating in post-acquisition operational and management initiatives assigned on an as needed basis such as assistance with consolidating or migrating certain shared vendors.
  • Additional tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in M&A, corporate development, or consulting.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in project management to track on meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills involving Balance Sheets, P&Ls and Cash Flow statements. Strong analytical and financial skills, including valuation techniques.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong research capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating across teams and managing complex projects.
  • Quick learner of new software and systems, particularly Excel.
  • Financial modeling expertise preferred.
  • Up to 20% travel required.
