Marketing and Communications Manager

The Marketing and Communications Manager assists in providing for the sustainability of Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada through specific marketing and communications projects.  The focus of this position is on communications, marketing, public relations, and internal and external communications.  This position serves as the Public Information Officer and media spokesperson throughout the council.  The Marketing and Communications Manager also supports council wide initiatives including community partnerships, special events, council programs, and fundraising efforts to meet annual goals.  This position will work as part of a team to meet departmental goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Business, or Communications plus 3 years of equivalent professional experience or 8-10 years of equivalent professional experience
• Must have supervisory experience
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in professional writing, public relations, advertising, and/or marketing preferred
• Proven writing skills
• Experience with multi-format social media planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Strong public speaking skills
• Experience with website management
• Event and project management experience
• Experience in developing community partnerships including local media outlets
• Interest in and appreciation of team approach to management of department projects
• Ability to manage a multi-project workload
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Outlook, internet, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media tools (Hootsuite, Canva)
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance for necessary travel to meetings and events
